Does printing on card use more ink than onto paper?

If you are using a printer to print a colour picture does the printer use more ink if you are printing onto card than it would onto normal paper?

The amount of ink sprayed by the ink-jets is determined by the printer settings, not the paper.

So the card is textured/absorbent than you may use more, but only if you change the printer settings.
