I Inherited our dishwasher from the former owners, it was 2 years old & working fine, I've used it now for 2 years and its been v/good.But yesterday when I emtied it everything was covered in a white film. I use the 5 in one tabs (Tesco) so don't need to put salt or rinse-aid in. I've been told its all in the tab.
Anyway anyone know whats causing this prob? H has cleaned the filter & we've done another wash but still cloudy glasses ect. Help!

I'd give it a few runs with extra salt added.
You can get dishwasher cleaner, you run it with the machine empty and the bottle of stuff in it. If it were round here I would say it was limescale, we have to make sure we use limescale prevention in everything.
Try using different Tablets as the Tesco ones don't seem to be doing their job.
They might be cheaper but not as effective as the well known brands.
Run it through a complete wash cycle with a cup of vinegar thrown in at the beginning and one more at the rinse cycle... No soap...

I'll give it a good seeing to tomorrow, H is taking the hoses off & giving them a steam clean with the garden hose (to my horror) but he says he knows what he's doing.mmm!?

Jem. - Thanks for the advice.
I use the all in tablets but I've still always kept the salt in. Thought you had to. Filmy glasses is normally the first sign of running out of salt.
add some salt Jem, put on the longest programme, then use either fairy all in one tabs, or finish ones, own brands are not good!............I hate them, waste of money, ok for putting down the drains, but that's it!..................

Perhaps I will change the tablets but the 5 in one lemon ones from Tesco have really done the job in the past.
Do you really think if I put more salt in it would help Pru? Salt is already in the tabs.Thats why I ignore the little light that keeps flashing to tell me to add salt.
(Any old salt or special stuff?)

I dunno!!! I've always added salt - has to be dishwasher salt (only about once every 3 months I think) even though I use the 5-in-1 Finish. Worth a try anyway.
Sometimes these all in one products (like shampoo and conditioner) are not as good as the 2 separate things.

Will give it a go Pru, Thankyou & Night - night.

think how much salt you normally put in a dishwasher and compare it wih the tiny amount in each tab, better to be safe and use salt as recommended when you buy a dishwasher.
I agree with boxtops put a dishwasher cleaner in the machine as per the instructions,
especially if you have been away on holiday and the machine hasnt been used for a week or so.Good luck I hope its okay now.

Our dishwasher has never given a moment's trouble, and gets everything perfect without salt or tablets.

It's me!
