Army Chinooks over Birmingham ...

We live not too far away from the new Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham where as well as the general public, many of the seriously injured army personnel from Afghanistan are taken for treatment.

Yesterday teatime we saw three of the big double rotor bladed helicoptors fly over head towards the hospital. A few minutes later we saw two fly back in formation closely followed by the third rapidly ascending as if it had just made a stop on the helipad on the roof.

I know this sounds fairly obvious that they were probably dropping off the next poor soul for treatment but I cannot remember seeing any of these aircraft dropping anybody off before let alone the spectacular site of seeing three of these machines over a major city.

Have you finally escaped the clutches of Woodgate Valley Cazzz??? lol
yeah, but I did used to like quinton, selly oak ect, I am up to erdington/kingstanding way now, there was never a dull moment on the valley ;)
Question Author
never too many dull moments in Kingstanding from what I know so you won't be bored for long.
actually where I am is pretty quiet, I have to travel for the controversy :)
Question Author
good stuff :-)
kingstanding, shouldn´t it be renamed the brummy bronx!!
i grew up there, but my mom always insisted we were living in great barr.
if you ever have to catch a bus at night there, pray!! it feels scarey, all the shops have shuttters.
Question Author
as do many areas in major towns ... pop down to Solihull and I think you'll find plenty of shutters along the High Street at night!

Actually i'm not saying Mrs Kirk is a snob but we live right on a border between Harborne and Quinton but you can guess where she tells everyone we live :-)
a lot of birmingham is pretty iffy now to be honest
pretty dodgy down by welsh house farm kirk, I used to live not far from it, I wouldnt go down that way at night
c.kirk, i know most shops have shutters down at night. but its the feeling you get in k.standing, its scarey, for a start youre faced with a huge roundabout, and more or less complete silence, only interrupted by passing cars. Luckily i have no need to ever return there as my last remaining rel who lived there died last year.
oh and lastly the copshop closes at i beleive 9pm
Question Author
Unfortunately we're not to far away from it but are tucked away nice and quiet so hopefully go under the radar to the locals ... and we also drive everywhere! Luckily don't send mini Kirk to Welsh House Farm primary.
Question Author
I know what you mean about the buses though ... scary enough in the daytime ... and that's just the school kids.
lol @ a huge roundabout

well thats as clear as mud ;)
Question Author
