My large fushia has died ...

My fushia is still all brown and twiggy - I think the frost from the severe winter has killed it. Due you think I should leave it and see if it comes back next year - I'm so disappointed, it must be about 10 years old.
Its usually blooming at this time!

did you make sure of good pruning, weedingand feeding etc to promote growth? should be showing signs of bloom now, really. sounds like mine which died last year when i neglected it. this year, i've planted my own, pruned my long-suffering straggly rose bush to within an inch of its life and gone in for veg and borders and stuff too. i hope i remain suitably motived, otherwise it will all turn to mush again! if yours is 10 years old it is well established, so may be a little late due to the weird weather. i do hope it comes back to life for you x

Have you gently scraped the bark off to see if it`s green underneath? If it`s just brown near the base of the plant then I`m afraid it has gone. I have all but given up on a couple of mine but I`ll just keep them a little warm in the bottom of my greenhouse and just moist and perhaps with a little tlc will come to show some life. I can wait.

I lost a few things due to the frosts last winter, but the fuschia which has been in my garden since well before I bought the house is just showing signs of life, and we are in the south. Don't give up hope yet!

Me too, have 2 large fuschias that are about 10 years old, Thought they were dead from this winter but they have just started to sprout a little now and I'm also in the south.

Mine haven't produced any shoots on last years wood burt I have new growth coming through from the base I would wait as others have suggested but start a new one in a pot ready to replace it...just in case

Thanks very much for all your answers. Had another look at it today and its just snapping when I bend the branch. I've never pruned it in all the time I've had it, I just left it to grow bigger and bigger - it must be about 3 ft round.
