I want to fix ceramic tiles to kitchen worktops. The worktops aren't marble or granite or anything particularly fancy, just the normal laminated type. Can I use the normal type of adhesives that would be used in a bathroom or kitchen?

I tiled my worktop with standard waterproof tile adhesive. However, I fitted the worktop upside down, so the laminate was underneath. (I set out to tile it from the start, so bought a cheap worktop).

If yours is an existing worktop, you might have a problem flipping it over due to where corners are cut etc.

I don't know how well the adhesive would stick to the laminated side. (Not very well, I fear.)

You could quite easily chip off the laminate if you wanted to, plus it would give a rougher surface to bond too.

otherwise what about floor adhesive? isn't that stronger?

although I've not done any of this, but just a thought!
