Help, my boilers gone wonky
I'm having probs with my gloworm combi boiler, I can get no hot water, although the heating is working fine. I have just read on another question that it may be the dhw thermostat. What is it, and where will I find it on my boiler?

Possibly it's the diverter valve sticking, this sometimes happens when then system has been shutdown or lack of an inhibitor has caused a seize up of the valve. Try a light tap on the valve housing, if not better ask a plumber to look at it.

the diverter valve inside most combination boilers can stick fromn time to time..or pass water very lightly, causing a build up of sediment, causing the sticking of the valve making it unable to swich over to the hotwater side, which usually takes preference over the heating (as in if the heating is on..and you turn a hw tap on, you will always get hw water even if the heating isnt upto temp) i digress... Yes i would say, as a plumber myself, without looking at the problem in full the diverter valve is the fault here.though dont count me on it without actually seeing it! hope it helps

thanx for the replies, I have called in a plumber, and he said, yep u guessed it, its the diverter valve. As it is going to cost quite a bit to replace, we have opted for a new boiler. Now I'm stuck with having to replace the pipes with 22mm instead of my existing ones! DAMN government regulations! Just going to put my head in the gas oven, if that still works.

unfortunatly not, the gas wont run without lighting it for a while on most new cookers, or there instant lighting..ahh well buy an electric cooker and just sit on the hob....it will take a while but in the end have the same effect!
