droopy peony

I have some fresh cut peonies in a vase. I have had to top up the water at least twice a day but they are drooping badly. what am I ding wrong.

With some modern varieties, it's what they do. The flowers are simply too big and heavy to be supported by the stems. Even still growing, they'll do it, and there's quite a market in frames to help stop them drooping.

Thank you heathfield. The flowers are in a vase, so I think a frame is out of the question.
If you have some thin but strong wire, you can slide it up the inside of the stem to keep their heads up. I add a teaspoon of sugar to the water in the vase also.
