Don't do the white wine thing. It's a myth.
Soak it in water to dilute the stain as much as poss, and then watch this space until a few people arrive who know the names of stuff like Vanish.

Is the dress washable ? If so, then do as Jayne suggests and soak it in a solution of *vanish* or one of those stain removal powders, followed by a go in the washing machine. If it's dry clean only, then something like *dab-it-off* might remove the stain but you'd be better off taking it to a dry cleaners asap.
