On another note, yes, fall seeding is a good idea. Try to time it just before a rain. We here in the western U.S. often seed just before a snow. Seems as the snow melts in the spring it carries the grass seed closer to the soil...

Not for what we call "overseeding", jno... it's just sown by broadcast on the existing lawn... seem sto work. Our lawn is much thicker with the late fall or even winter planting.
By the way... congratulations on your upcoming retirement! I sincerely hope you enjoy whatever it is you choose to do. Additionally, I greatly appreciate your calm and reasoned posts in many different threads. Go forth unfettered!
