for some reason, our gas hob on our cannon gas cooker won't work even though the ovens are working.
we think that it is because someone has accidentallly set the oven controls but have tried and tried fiddiing with them and cannot get the hob to work.
any ideas?

hi
if its the type of oven that has a fold down glass lid then i would guess that the safety cut off valve for the gas line is stuck in the shut position. i.e. there is a special valve that cuts off the gas wen the lid is pulled down to stop the glass getting red hot and shattering if someone had forgotten to turn the burners off.
best left to a corgi gas engineer to repair as it is a part of the gas supply.

thank you very much.
as long as the clock isn't set it works. it is working now but if i set the time and press a wrong button, then a flashing light appears in the left hand top corner of the lcd display control and a red hand, palm facing out ,appears.
we have no idea what we did for it to supply us with gas again, but it is such a curse when friends are due over to eat and the oven won't play ball and we are so clueless.
sometimes we live on salads!!

ive never known a hob not work bcause of the clock before, its usually the ovens only that are controlled by the clock and the hob is totally seperate. i.e. on ovens with a automatic timer function the main oven will usually not work unless the cook symbol is showing on the clock.
out of interest what is the model name and number for your cooker?
