Is it possible to cut Vertical blinds to size?

I'm hoping to buy some ready made vertical blinds to go in the recess of my window. Ready made ones are either too big or too small and I can't afford made to measure ones.
If you can cut to size, how do you do it?
Thanks in advance

I bought some silver ones and cut them to size easily. A hacksaw for the bars at the top and bottom and a pair of scissors for the slats!

I didn't use any technical calculations, just held them up against the window and marked then cut the excess off.

Dear god NO!
There is a simple tool costing about 4 quid kind of like a hole punch set up that you can buy from most shops that sell materials. Any dramas, tap me up and I'll sort one out for you.

As for technical calculations.
Example
window inside frame to frame is 600mm
you can only get an 800mm blind.
Cut off each side = (Blind length - opening / 2)
= 800 -600 /2
=200/2
=100mm off each side with that clipper machine.
Works best with 40mm Ali blinds

I discovered the clipper thingy in B&Q shortly after I had chopped them with my scissors :-)

The question refers to vertical blinds, but all the answers so far are about Venetian blinds. Please clarify which it is you are asking about.

You will need a sewing machine. Remove the chains and the weights from the bottom of each panel, turn up the panel to the required length and, using a long machine stitch, sew a hem deep enough to accomodate the weight. Trim off the excess fabric, place the weight in the new hem, re-attach the chains.

My friend used a paper cutter. The kind in school. It cut clean and has markings for measuring.
