Home & Garden

6ft Conifer.

We've just moved into my new home and have noticed how obtrusive the large conifer is. It blocks the path and even when i trimmed it back, you can't help brushing against it. We always end up with a wet arm after rain.

I really want to move it to a better location in the garden, but i'm not sure if it's too large to move.

Do any of you green fingered AB'ers know? If i can't move it safely, i'll leave it be and put up with the wet arms.

Thanks.

I've moved a few of similar size without problem. There is always an element of risk in transplanting. Best done during the dormant / non growing season (not essential but wisest) keeping as much soil around the rootball as possible. Water well and regularly to ensure it does not dry out. If the new location is exposed it would be wise to stake it until it becomes established. Good Luck!

I have a Leylandii hedge 6ft high which I planted as saplings many years ago and now I rue the day as I`m having to rely on my sons to cut it for me, so take my advice and get it out and bin it.
