Can anyone help? My washing machine smells of stale water (the type of smell you get if you don't take the washing out soon enough). I leave the door and drawer open after every wash and have cleaned out the filter and scrubbed the inner of the drawer with a toothbrush. I have also done the recommended hot wash with nothing in the machine to give it a good flush through.
Any ideas apprieciated....

You can buy tablets (i got mine from asda) you put them in the drawer and do a 'full wash' but with nothing in if you know what i mean. You do it every so often. They were next to the stain devils etc.
Does your water drain away properly? I have the same problem and after googling one of the suggestions was that the hose taking the water away was to high
We had a problem one time when the machine flooded and when fixing it the repair man remarked that we were using too much detergent and this caused a build up of scummy stuff which never drained away completerly. Certainly we do have exceptionally soft water but maybe this is something for you to think about.
try checking the soap/detergent drawer. When I recently checked ours there was mould growth on the underside of the drawer.Cleaning that thoroughly made a great improvement.

Smelly Washer Cleaner is a completely organic powder that is used to clear fungus from any clothes washer. It works by disallowing cohesive properties between organic and synthetic compounds. The cleaner is used by adding a small amount (1 tablespoon normally suffices) to a hot setting in your washer and allowing it to complete the cycle.
In order to remove fungus spores from towels and clothing use just one teaspoon of cleaner instead of detergent. Rinse and dry as normal.
This product is super simple and works great!
