I have a large garden with several fruit trees including a Bramley apple tree, a couple of pear trees, which produce thousands of pears the size of small eggs, and a couple of plum trees. All have given an excellent crop but the apple and pear trees in particular are old and desparately need a heavy prune. Question- when is the best time to prune them all and if I do so will it mean (hopefully) that I get fewer but larger pears. Cheers Rob Burkinshaw
