PLEASE!!

Does anyone have an EFFECTIVE way of getting rid of snails? My poor garden is being eaten alive!

I've tried beer, but that just attracts them more and they just gorge themselves all the way to the pub!

I've spent a fortune on pellets, but that doesn't stop the new ones finding my garden and to be honest, I think mine have become immune and I've tried salt, but have the same problem!

Has anyone spotted a 'for rent' ad in the Snail Times for my garden????

Any help would be gratefully appreciated - I'll get you an orange for xmas, honest!

go out at night when its been raining and you will find them crawling every where i collect them up in an old ice cream tub and feed them to the hens the next day, up to you how you dispose of them, also wear a rubber glove or plastic bag on your hand as the slime is a devil to get off
I've heard of two. Have never seen them in action so I can't vouch if they work, but worth a try, eh?
Porridge oats sprinkled on the ground, they eat it and it dries them out.
And the other one was crushed eggs shells.
Hope one of them works!

Thank you both.

Ruthann, I don't think I can find any hens to feed them to and have little time to collect them up every day - and believe me - it's EVERY day.. about a hundred and I'm not exaggerating, honest!

Rhona, I've heard of the crushed egg shells, but never the porridge oats! I'm off to Tesco's right away to get some! I'll let you know if it works..

Thanks again to you both

HI, I bought pellets from poundstrecher and they did the trick, I haven,t been bothered with snails since, it,s cheap and comes in a large plastic type bottle.
wife tells me that sticking velcro round pots will stop them.too rough for them to cross she says.

Cheers Jaberwocky - I've also found that Vasoline works a treat. They can't get a grip on it and turn back or fall off!!

I think I'm gonna have to try the velcro trick now tho' - the thought of my pots with a velcro dado is just too cool to pass!

PS You'd never believe that I'm a gardner by trade, would you?
