New phone line in my first home

I am due to move into a new house next Thursday after living with my parents. I therefore need a landline and fancy the talk-talk broadband and landline package.

However, i don't have a number or anything (as the sellers are transferring their number) So what do i do - do i get a number from BT and then go to Talk Talk or will they do it all.

I have tried getting through to Talk Talk but there lines are VERY VERY busy.

My mate had Talk Talk - had stacks of problems with them. Another friend had them and said they were ok but has since gone back to BT

same here i had talk talk and i had nothing but trouble with them, the customer service is abysmal, that is if you can get through, promises to call back never happen or replies to emails, ive even sent letters to them by recorded delivery and still no reply KEEP WELL AWAY

Don't panic - you have plenty of time to get your phone line sorted out.

If you have the chance - get Virgin, cable instead of BT.

But if you want talk talk or any other, go to bt first and get your number. Then you can change.

if you do get a bt line then go with talktalk you dont have to change the number you can keep the one that bt gives you

When you get through to Talk Talk make sure you get the name of the person you speak to, and treat them as your friend. Their telesales agents are always extremely busy and much of their business is handled by Indian call centres.

If you can personalise your business with the agent, eg. ask them about themselves, eg. what their having for lunch, what was the traffic like on their way to work etc. I've found they are more likely to prioritise your business and return your calls.

They are cheaper than BT. Fact.

ive done all that you said dusty bin and still found the customer service was disgusting, they have even at times told me i didnt have an account with them although they then couldnt tell me why id had a bill from them!!!

I was in the same situation... you need to set up a line with BT first & then transfer it to Talk Talk (you keep the phone number BT gave you).

BT have a minimum contract of 3 months though.

We've been with Talk Talk for almost a year now & no problems, touch wood.

it is 3 months at the moment but is changing to 12 months at the end of this month
