Most probably, I should think you have over-watered it. Have the lower leaves turned lighter in colour, possibly even yellow? That's often another sign of overwatering. Otherwise perhaps it has been in surroundings which are too hot for its comfort, and/or been sitting in the sun? I'm no expert on this plant, so hopefully you will get other advice here, but I used to have one in my office at work. It stood on the floor in a corner and grew right up to the ceiling and then bent over a bit and grew along the ceiling. In its latter years it never looked completely healthy, however, and often shed some of its lower leaves. The first metre of its stems became bare, but I successfully added a young plant to the pot and its leaves provided useful foliage at the lower levels.

You could try repotting it in a larger container and using some fresh potting compost. Keeping it out of the sunlight and too much heat is probably a good idea, too.

Thank you! I suspected it was over-watering. It lives in my lounge so perhaps it is also too warm like you said. i will move it.
