Flag Poles

I believe that in order to have a flag pole + flag in a private garden needs planning permission. Does anyone know for sure if this is so?

You need planning permission from your local council to erect a flagpole. Once this has been obtained, no permission is necessary to fly National Flags

What I did :- I got a piece of drain pipe (circular) about 2 foot long, dug a hole and cemented that in. The Flagpole fitted inside this and was a temporary structure. I dont know if this gets round the regulations,

Tellboy, it's seems to me that when ''they'' make rules to stop people doing something that they like to do then the rules often are thought out to cover any abvious way around it that the average well meaning citizen might think of on the spur of the moment.

It might seem silly, but there has to be some sort of rule about things ...... because there is always some nutter like the person who lived four doors down from us who had 15 flagpoles in their garden with massive flags from 15 different countries which looked ridiculous in a small garden and an ordinary neighbourhood .. if there had not been any rules in place nothing could have been done.
