Does anyone know the name of the primer that negates the requirement to rub down furniture prior to painting? I know it’s quite expensive but I’ve forgotten what it’s called.

Not sure if this is exactly what you want but look at Annie Sloan paint.
I use this aerosol You need to mostly wash off any wax or oil first but I used it to prime a piece fo nasty greasy scorched kitchen cupboard and it worked fine. Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation

The builder, That doesn't sound familiar, but it could be the stuff I'm looking for. Someone told me about it ages ago. I just can't remember the name. Does that negate the need to prepare the surface?
