Spray 'em. With whatever the EU allows. Consider salting the area ?
golly that’s a website written with much smug snottiness!
I used use weedkiller and then a week or two later blast the drive with the pressure washer, cleaning the drive and blasting the dead weeds out.
I'd never have block paving again, it ain't low maintenance.
When I was a kid I had many a bleeding knuckle from digging them out with spoons!
Buy a large bottle of "Thin Bleach" from Tescos or somewhere similar (cost about 30p). Use a sprayer to spray the weeds liberally. A week later they will be dead and you can sweep the debris away with a hard broom. You may need to repeat the treatment in a few weeks (as you would with "Pathclear" or similar) but its a whole lot cheaper.

What I do is, is buzz over the area with a strimmer occasionally.
