How do you remove old tile cement from the back a tile which has come off the wall? Is it just a case of chipping away, hoping not to break the tile, or is there an easier way?

Thanks all, I will have wait and see if my hubby has an appropriate drill attachment.
Or a grinder
I use to soak ceramic tiles in water o/night seemed to work.
Regardless of whether you use a sanding attachment, angle grinder, grinder etc, make sure hubby wears a protective breathing mask. He'll come away looking like one of the Homepride flour men after the job - the dust gets everywhere.

Success! I left the tile face-down with a damp cloth over it for half an hour and the cement scraped off easily.
