Pond Plants/pond Management

I've just put a small pond into our new garden and was wondering if anyone could advise me on plants/management.
The pond is in a slightly exposed location, it's only about 4" long by 3" wide and about 2" deep with no ledges. I've sorted out the water and put two "marginals" in it. I've also introduced a small goldfish from the old place. It's only been there for about two weeks and already has some green algae bloom, like pea soup.
I'm wondering if some floating plants might help to keep the water oxygenated and the algae down? I liked the idea of water hyacinths but apparently they won't stand a British winter. I have also ordered a few native snails (Lymnaea stagnalis) but have since found out they might not be the cleanup crew I'd hoped they might be and also may have a go at my marginals!
I have a solar powered bubbler that only works when there is full sunlight on the panel.
TIA for any advice.

Thanks Chris :-)
Hi A P, I've just installed a pond of a similar size, myself and so far (fingers crossed) its stayed gin-clear.
Due to the small size of the pond, I have chosen a miniature sized plant to help shade the surface and also help with oxygenation. Its called 'Frogbit' and looks similar to a miniature water lily, leaves, only about the size of a 50p piece. Its a floating plant that sinks to the bottom in the winter, with dormant buds that over-winer then re-emerge in the spring.
I may add some Rams horn snails at some stage.
I think the yellow flag Iris is a good choice as a marginal, as is Purple loosestrife.
Best of luck...Chip.
That's one VERY small pond.......!
