Have noticed some negative comments about Check a Trade on this site? Why?
I have used it to find local tradesmen and never had any problems. Also they always seem keen for me to fill in the feedback from, so they must care about the report.

Lucky you.
I have used the site twice, and both times have been let down. First was a roofer to fix three loose tiles. Over a period of three weeks he kept making appointments then would phone me and give an excuse as to why he couldn't get here. Second was a plumber. He just didn't turn up. Haven't bothered using the site since.
Everybody wants feedback nowadays. It gets on your pip!
It's a £5 to join as a business. Not exactly a vetting system to join is it?
£15 a month or £150 a year to join Checkatrade.

The ability to pay is the only criteria.

Thanks everyone for your replies. I always look at the previous reviews and wouldn't use anyone without good reports, or do you think these are fake? I give honest good reviews on the site (although don't know if I would bother if they had been less than satisfactory).
I've found mybuilder.com to be much better. I have been seriously impressed at the quick service I got and the quality of work
