Please can someone help me . I have a battery Quartz Cuckoo clock , model number # 94/614M . which is still given me the correct time ,however there is no sound from the cuckoo , or from the water wheel part ,as this played melodies on the hour , there is a small motor which connects to the main circuit board , this could be seized up , I'm wondering if this could be the fault or , could it be the whole circuit board itself , although as the cuckoo is still operating from this circuit board .? . I would be very grateful for any advice , as I would like this item back to its original state , for sentimental reasons thanks .

I should add that some of these clocks prefer "Duracell CopperTop" (alkaline) batteries. I'm assuming that, because of the sound and motion complications, the clock is not powered by button-cells.

Are there two batteries in the clock: one for the time, and one for the "special effects"? If so, check to see if they are both still at charge. In any case, better still, just replace any batteries in the clock with good quality replacements.

Thank you Stuey for your advice , I'm using rechargeable batteries D size , not button cell , which I've been using over the years that I've had the clock , therefore if I purchased Duracell copper top batteries ,then perhaps the cuckoo and the water wheel will work , as I'm still puzzled why the bottom motor which seems to be the main one for both the cuckoo sound ,and for the water wheel , as the top motor seems to operate the cuckoo to come in and out of the clock door . I'm definitely going to take you advice and , and I will be purchasing 2 D size Duracell copper top batteries . Thank you Stuey
is it an old clock? I ask because I once had an old 1960s 70s battery clock and it would not run on the modern alkaline or rechargeable batteries . It was fine on the old fashioned Zinc Carbon ones though. I wa told this is because the alkaline / rechargeable battery the voltage is only 1.35V where the 'old original' ones are 1.5v not a lot but enough for some clocks not to work.
Before you replace the batteries, clean the contact points where they go in with some gentle rubbing with fine sand-paper, and make sure that you get rid of any dust using a wet Kleenex. If it still doesn't work, let me know.

I'm still having problems with the cuckoo clock , the cuckoo is not come out at all now since I've changed from rechargeable ones to Duracell D size copper top , and it still doing great keeping the right time , the waterwheel is not moving either , perhaps the motors must be going as there is one for the cuckoo and one for the waterwheel .? Any ideas Stuey Cheers
