my home is major clean, no smells , no food lying about, why is there so many flies coming in. they congregate in the living room , i sit and watch them ,they seem to like to fly around the centre of room about waist to head height, so i thought maybe its the wind or the lack of wind and the warmth they like to fly there, so i opened all doors and windows throughout house and theyre still here, ive been spraying them with detol mixed with water from a spray jar , it squirts them up the face but the annoying little sh*ts just get back up again. i have 2 yukka plants in my living room and a spider plant but surely they do not attract them.

i could understand if my home was smelly with food lying around or maybe a pair of old stinky underdogs....but no its very clean.

Similar thread the other day on here diesel, get yourself a magnetic door curtain - £4-99 at Amazon. I got one last year and my house is virtually a 'no-fly-zone':-)
This looks a bit expensive, but it does the trick, I have had mine 7 years now, and barely ever had a fly in all that time. Butchers and the like use them. You opened all the doors and windows? Probably their mates flew in.
I have got those ferlew and a flyzapper in the kitchen, we are virtually fly free even in this dreadful humidity
A good investment we thought Woofgang, many of my pals now have them :)
I have one every single day. Comes in about 1.30pm and I make a point of hunting it down and killing it, (have a fly swat in every room), and yet the next day there is his 'brother' in for a visit.
Very strange.
If you don't want to spend that much, I bought a beaded door curtain for £9.99 on eBay, does the trick, I don't have any flies.
Maybe the secret is to get air conditioning installed throughout, and keep doors and windows closed.
This prevents the little blighters coming in through the door but nothing to stop them coming in through windows?
you can hang the chains over windows too if you want, the would be very easy to shorten and make two or three window covers out of one door cover. I keep most of my transom windows open and don't find that flies come in through them...of course they have to get up and under the window to get in which may discourage them.
If they are insecticide free, how do they work Tilly? are they just sticky like flypapers?
Good question woofgang,I was wondering the same thing?
Yes, they are just sticky. They are insecticide free but they attract the flies because they look like flowers.
You will be amazed by how many flies you catch. Give it a few days.

They are very easy to apply and very easy to dispose of.
argh no, that's horrible, at least the zapper is am instant death.
