having recently moved into my house, I've noticed a small piece of the air brick on back of house is missing. Can I buy a replacement "piece" or does the whole lot need to be renewed. thanks in advance for your replies/help

Can you "fix" it with some stiff mortar (maybe using paper to ensure required holes) ?

I guess I could do just that. three quarters of it is in place & its just a small end section I would estimate about 2 1/2" - 3" max is missing. thank you for your reply
Sounds like the gap is big enough for mice to get in and set up home in the wall cavity.

Whatever you decide to do, I would cover the gap with something like wire mesh in the interim.
Easy to get from any Builders' Merchants, Lewis. Plastic or Terra Cotta.

Break it out with a hammer.
Clean off the remaining mortar with a hammer & chisel.
Lay a bed of mortar on the bottom brick where the airbrick will sit.
Poke a little bit of mortar into the top joint to hold it.
Next day... point up the rest.

You could do it all in one go, but, if you're not too experienced, you'll keep moving the airbrick.
