Does anyone use these? If so roughly how often do you have to change them?

I've had my spotlights for several years now but I find I have to change the bulbs every 2 - 3 months. Surely they must last longer than this unless there is something wrong with the light fittings?

If the lamps are halogen ....what type of fitting are they in?...is there enough airspace behind the fitting?.How many hours are they used for? What wattage are they? What make are they?
GU10 only describes the fitting size...not the type of lamp.
I do. That's about the same as some of mine- but some last longer. It seems to depend where I get them from. I once bought them cheaply from Amazon and those that actually worked, lasted about a week.
Yes, if I spend a bit more money and get some GE or Philips bulbs I can actually get a few months out of them.

Not many though.

I think they are the halogen ones. They look a bit like this:

Amazon.co.uk User Recommendation
Halogen lamps run very hot....I'm sure this doesn't help their life-span.
....the same as mine. Don't try Amazon for them at cheaper prices.

I only use the in the evenings and early morning for about 30 mins before I go to work. I get all sorts of makes, from wherever I see them.

What a waste of money if that's the case. I've bought some LED ones - let see how long they last!
Tiggs, the LED ones that I use to replace halogens are guaranteed for 5 years, and can last for anything from 10,000 to 20,000 hours.

If you have enough of them, you cut your power consumption as well.

Thanks Builder. I found the LED ones in Lidl and they were 2 for £4 so I got 4. Might get some more if I see them again.
Would you let me know how you get on please tigger? I have the same problems and would be interested in how you go on with led bulbs

Will do Granny. I only replaced them today so if they do last a while, you can take is as rent that they're good. In the meantime do pop down to a Lidl and see if you can find them. Going by what Builder says they should last quite a long time :o)
Thank you tigger - good post from The builder as well
