Anybody have a good idea where I can buy recycled/used/offcuts garden railings (either wrought iron or any suitable metal) to fit a 9ft gap on top of our back garden wall? I've tried eBay and Gumtree and local scrapyards but maybe there's some other source I've not thought of? Thanks

Try a reclamation yard. They get all sorts of stuff, and you might be lucky.
Factually, but alas not usefully, there are huge quantities of them lying on the bed of the North Sea. This was the result of an over-zealous metal recovery drive during World War I; armaments need much better quality iron than railings are made of.
Also factually but alas not usefully, have you factored that a permanent structure of this nature over 2 metres above the ground needs planning consent?
If you don't have this, I'd be inclined to affix a trellis. Cheaper and easier to uninstall later, if you had to.

Thanks very much Bert! I'm on my way to collect some now. They'll need repainting I daresay.
