Have managed to get two Pyrex bowls jammed together,tried tapping round them with a tumbler to no avail, has anyone any suggestions for separating them please?

Float them in *very* hot water - the outer one will expand just a tad & you should be able to separate.

Yes, but don't get the hot water inside either bowl - just on the outside of the outer one.
Use a different bowl and have another go tomorrow? I'm always rubbish as fiddly things in the evening.
yes to the hot water but also drizzle a little cooking oil around the rim beforehand.

Same as woofgang.
This happened to my daughter in the end I got some banding strip which is very thin but also very strong then, feed it between the two dishes creating a cradle and ease them apart worked a treat.
Pop 'em in the fridge for 10 or 15 minutes...
I'm glad I'm not the only one who does things like that, Mags. How comforting
