In previous years I have not had much luck with growing potatoes in a large container. Seems such a lot of effort for a small yield. Is there any kind of fertiliser I could add to the pot to make more potatoes please. I have 5 tubers of Charlotte in a large large square pot and the leaves are just through, ready to be earthed up. Thanks.

I use soil tipped out of other pots for top up, just anything I have, never ever feed and do okay with potatoes. For me, the secret is a sunny spot and LOADS of water.
I put a sprinkling of Growmore in the base of the container, then,m as Woofgang rightly says, plenty of water and a warm, sunny spot. They get leggy in shade.

You're lucky if you get 2lbs/plant off an early potato. Next try a maincrop variety.
