Purple flowers on potatoes Im growing

Ive always had white flowers on the plants, which die off before you pick the spuds, but these ones have purple flowers??

Different variety of spud, smow, it's not a problem. My father used to say you should pick the flowers off before they set seed, to encourage the spuds (and the seeds are apparently poisonous).
Purple flowers on potatoes are common , in fact in my expieience they are more common than white ones.

Ohhh, I didnt realise that. And I thought you had to keep the flowers on.
I always left the flowers on until they started to set seed because they look pretty
In France, in Napoleon's time, potatoes were grown for their flowers.
I've got a Chilean Potato Vine growing over an arch that is covered in purple flowers, looks rather nice IMO with all those little flowers in bloom.
