Hi,
Apparantly you should remove artex with a wallpaper stripper, the hot steam type. there are also plasteres round here that advertise that they can plaster over artexed walls, which is o.k as long as the finish doesn't protrude out too far.

my husband is painting our artex ceiling (for the first time) with emulsion paint. after applying the paint the original artex finish is flaking in large patches. what should we do?
can you paint over an artex ceiling with white paint without it going yellowy. I was told it was meant to not be painted but ours has a sheen and I thought a matt paint might tone the pattern down?
when applying paint to ceiling artex it is flaking is this the original artex companies fault, please give me any reasons for this ocuring
Whats the best way to seal new artex before applying emulsion, as i'm told the paint will crack if not sealed. thanks
