swimming pool upkeep

hi i have a 15ft swimming pool and am a complete beginner. what quantities of chlorine and algaecide should you innitially put in the pool after filling? anyone with advice it would be soooo appreciated. thanks Karen

15ft is a length....not much help...........what you need to know is how much water it contains and then you can work put how much chlorine to put in.

OK ....one tablet of chlorine in each of the 2 skimmers and then run it on manual for about 3 hours.
The with your testing kit...retest and add more chlorine to keep level as directed by you kit.

Hold on.. you did say it was 15 foot by 36 inches... it's quite reasonable to make a remark given that information.....

coli - someone was only asking for dimensions - so they can calculate volume of water you need to be treated - its a simple calc from there - so if you give W(width), L(length) and D(depth) then it's easy - I don't think anybody was being ironic

530 gallons doesn't sound right!

530 gallons is about 85 cubic feet, even if the dimensions of 15 feet by 36 inches (3 feet) was correct that would mean the pool is under 2 feet deep. assuming that the 36inches is an error and it's wider then it would need to be even shallower to be 530 gallons.
