I noticed that the end panel (housing the washing machine) had a crack in it where it joins the wall about 3 inches from the floor in a semi circle 3 inches to the floor and also the bottom of the panel is bowed. I pointed this out to my OH but he said it was where the WM was fitted so tight into the space. He has since passed away and I am left with the problem. I think there may have been a leak at sometime as the end of the panel has started to expand and the mdf is blackish. However what I would like to know is can the end panel be replaced while the worktop is still in place? If so who would I ask to do it. Kitchen fitters tend to want to 'fit kitchens' and not mess about with fiddly jobs.

I took ours off to replace the laminate flooring in the kitchen. I think your best bet is to find a "handyman" as it shouldn't require a highly skilled person.
Yes, definitely, a handyman. It's a simple job. :o)
