Buying venetian blinds- are aluminium better than PVC (Vinyl)?

Does anyone know if aluminium blinds are better than vinyl ones? they seem a bit more expensive but I'm only looking for some cheapish ones to use just in the summer.

I would not recommend aluminium blinds if you kink one of the shutters it is imposable to straighten it out .and you will be stuck with a kinked blind.

I have plastic in my coservatory, they've been there for about 5 years and still look good. They just get an occasonal dust and a yearly dunk in the bath.
