Pidgion Eating Greengage Flowers

talking to a friend today she told me she would have no greengages this year as in the spring she saw a pidgion pick off and drop all the flowers off her tree she frightened it off several times but it kept coming back until all the flowers were gone, anyone got a clue as to why the bird did this?

That's what pigeons do, especially wood pigeons. I have no idea why, though.

It must be to draw attention to itself so it can fulfil it's ambition to be in the pie.

If my friend had a gun the damned bird would have been in a pie.
One bird wouldn't have made much of a pie.
might have been eating the nectar at the base of the flower...she needs a fruit cage or to net the tree.
