now that my lupins have finished flowering,they have collapsed and looking very sorry for themselves, what do I do next, also the poppies are looking similar.Thanks

cut them off to the base of the flower and smaller shoots will grow and possibly flower again this summer
depends if you want to harvest seed of course..same with poppies...if you do then wait for the seed pods to mature and brown..
I agree, yes just cut the lupine stems back to the base of the plants, allowing the rest of the plant to die down at the end of the season, ready for them to re-emerge next year.
