No expert but aren't they buttercups ?

They're bigger than buttercups. About 3 inches in diameter.

Buttercups have five petals. These are different.

Thank you. Yes, it's an evening primrose. I'd always imagined them to be smaller than that, for some reason. I wish I could give you all Best Answer. I knew AB would help me out here. Thanks.
I have them in my garden, so I reconised it instantly. Good plant to attract bees, butterflies, moths etc...
Are yours actually in flower now? Mine have no signs of buds even yet!
My ones should flower next year, as they are bienials, in their first year.
