I bought four packets of seeds for £3.00. Each pack individually costs £2.09.

A bargain! I bought Morning Glory, White Cosmos, Larksur and my favourite, blue Cornflowers.

Seems a good buy I suppose.

I remember when Bees seeds at Woolworth's were 2 pence a packet, and Cuthbert's seeds were 4 pence. This is old money we're talking about!
Not bad Tilly,

I bought a box of butterfly attracting flower seeds from Sainsbury today which consists of a mix of annual seeds : Zinnia, Mallow, Tickseed, Corn marigold and California poppy all for the princely sum of £3.00.
I must say though, I felt a bit ripped off when I peaked inside the box and it appears to be mostly bulked up with vermiculite.
Flower and veg seeds 39p a packet at Aldis at moment. Small packets but quantity for quantity good value.

39p per packet is very good........and there I was, pleased with my 75p per packet. :-)
One of my favourite annuals is Clarkia but they must be the single flowered ones. not that easy to find these days.
I went in to a flower shop to buy hardy annuals you know the hard back beeno and dandy they said they were sowed out

You are a comic, weecalf!
Question Author
Just looked up Clarkia, Chip. They are pretty flowers. Not heard of them before.
Does Clarkia sprout in a bag and does the sack come with it think about it
how exactly do some people sell these so cheap? Loss leader? Put together in Bangladeshi sweatshops? Mutant leftover seeds? Or is it just that normal prices are a ripoff?
Question Author
The latter, I would say, jno.

Mr Fothergills are a Newmarket company, not in Bangladesh, I don't think.

weecalf....I am thinking about it but not getting very far. Give us another clue.
Beano & Dandy - hard backed annuals printed by DC Thomson. Good one wee calf - sorry they were sowed out.
Question Author
I got that one, maggie. It's the Clarkia one I'm puzzling with.
Oops Tilly. Do you think it is a reference to Clarkson sprouting then getting the sack? Will have to have another think.
Question Author
Could be that, maggie. Well done, if it is.:-)
:-)
I'm trying to grow tomatoes for the first time ever this year, I don't think I could cope with flowers as well. Hope they come up.
Question Author
Good luck with your tomatoes, OG.

So what's the story?
This is all getting a little bit too cryptic for me.
