When should flowers appear? Bush is growing well,in its first year,but no flowers as yet

Most varieties flower quite early, mine have set fruit and are about the size of peas at present. I think your bushes are settling in and will flower next spring.

My bushes (Lake District so later than the rest of England) have already flowered and I have gooseberries visible. Looks like you'll not have any this year.
Be aware of babies appearing.

Bit late for that Whiskeryron,we both over 70,,anyway it was under cabbages where I was found,so I was told,!!!!
We have fairly large gooseberries already on our bushes, so think you will not get any this year.

You might need to wait till next year, the fruit is usually produced on the previous years wood. I have picked the first crop of gooseberries already from my standard.
