I have a fair bit of bamboo growing in my garden, I've never planted any, it sort of invaded from next door so I don't know what type it is.

I want to grow some in pots for my aviary. Any idea if it's as easy as just digging/pulling some up and just popping it in to pots?

Yes, you should be able to get some growing in some large pots.
Look for some of the shorter stems with plenty of roots. pot up the rooted cuttings into any general purpose compost with some crocks in the bottom of the pots, some pebbles on the surface may help too.
