Wisteria pruning following old advice.

Have bitten the bullet and pruned one wisteria to 2 buds having read about this in an old magazine and for comparison left the other to 5/6 buds . It's supposed to be timesaving, no need for February pruning and it was certainly easier to identify the leaf axils what affect it will have on the flowering I don't know ...supposedly no difference but will report back next year. Fingers crossed!!.
Has anyone else read this/tried this.

The RHS doesn't seem to have been convinced by your method:

I always did mine January and August.
I think the reason behind the method traditionally used is all about the bud development. If you cut it back too hard too soon, there is a case that the buds that should develop for flowers next year, will develop as new shoots in september and grow into whispy weak stems which are totally useless.
