If you really want to remove the bluebells, then dig out the whole clump with a HUGE clod of soil and pull the bluebells out from underneath which will minimise damage to the thrift. Given that bluebells are considerably less common that they were, i hope you wont get rid of them all together. They don't harm other plants and die down after flowering. I let mine grow where they will and would be sorry to lose them.

I just leave everything where it is. Rosy, which bluebells do you have, if they are still English bluebells then cherish them - the sturdy American ones have taken over round here!

Thank you both for your replies. I think they are English bluebells going by your link boxtops. I do love them but between those and the welsh poppies with their long roots the rest of the stuff don't have a chance, the poppies are growing thro' the hostas in my pots even. I usually scatter them in woods near us, or put them at the back of the garden. I couldn't put them in the bin, heck I'm the one who buys all the half dead stuff in the garden centre 'cos I'm sory for them, lol. Thanks again, rosy

Id would love to have bluebells in my garden. Can you send me some ? :>) I understand you problem though. I think you do need to have a bit of control in your garden. Look what happened when the triffids came !!
