I have just been cutting my daffodils down and buried underneath some of them was a fungus/mould and can only liken to very tiny "Shrek ears", has anyone any idea?

The daffs were naturalised in the lawn and when I cut the tops off yesterday, which had flopped over on the lawn, the fungi, or whatever it is, was underneath and just looked like tiny ,pale green, shrek ear'oles and is still there today. Most peculiar, never seen anything like it in all my years of gardening.
