residue removal

I've got masking tape adhesive on my tiling trim and have tried to scrape it off to no avail. Is there a solution that I can put on to dissolve the glue residue, without having any effect on the plastic trim, such as discolouration, please?

Lakeland Plastics do a liquid called 'Sticky Stuff Remover'.
I do not know if it would work, but it is very very safe.

Thanks for the good advice. I might have to order some, if there isn't a household liquid that would do the job.

You could give methylated spirit a try...that's pretty safe too...usually...

... Or hairspray containing alcohol...
Different manufacturers use different adhesives that require different solvents. But Ladyalex's Sticky Stuff Remover will deal with all of them. Try a local discount store. Many stock this stuff, and they'll be much cheaper than Lakeland,
if you have any wd40 hanging about try that, it should work on tiles. i have used it in the past removing sticky residue on car's and it's worked.

Really good ideas - thank you all. Have tried surgical spirit , WD40 and hairspray with alcohol - the sticky residue is being stubborn! Have even tried discreet scraping and saucepan scourer (gentle one) - it looks as if I will have to get the Lakeland version , or a cheaper local alternative.
To remove sticky labels from plastic containers without damaging the container in any way, I always use ordinary cooking oil but you have to leave it for 12 to 24 hours to do it's job.
Try smearing some cooking oil on the adhesive, leave it overnight and see if that works. I'm sure the oil won' t damage the tiling.
