is there an easy way of taking up plastic tiles that have been stuck down.i have been using a scraper but its taking hours. help

Try applying heat to it, either a heat gun or hair dryer will do. This will melt the glue and make it easier to lift them off.
you can hire a tool.it 's like a concrete breaker but has a very wide thin blade. I used one recently, it's very noisy so warn the neighbours ! took about two hours to do about 4 square yards.
I found the best way was a wallpaper scraper with a hammer.

I know your probably not meant to use them together but it worked and it took a couple of hours.

Watch your hands though as the scraper doesn't have a handle suitable for striking so its easy to slip off and hit your hand.

Finally depending on the age of the tiles - sometimes they contain trace amounts of asbestos.

Ps - if they are stuck down that well - why not go over the top of them?
