emulsion paint

Any idea how I can remove emulsion paint from plaster walls that have not been sealed? I have had some work done in the house that has left some bare patches of plaster and previosly painted walls.the paint is just flaking off in patches becasue it was never sealed inthe first place. If I sand it I am still not going to have a flat surface. Can I use paint stripper to remove the emulsion? Any thoughts please? help !!

Hi, nb1, You cud paint just the patches of bare plaster until the paint as dryed, then paint the whole wall that should even it out for you,

I did it that way and it look OK!
Sorry! paint stripper is for wood not for walls
Brush loose stuff away, use a sealant to prime it (diy stores, about 15/20 a tin) and then paint over.

Thanks mech29 and Postdog. Post dog, should I seal all over the wall the painted bits as well? I spotted on a diy prog the other day someone mixed PVA with his emulsion becasue the wall had not been sealed, is that a viable option too
All over. Can't answer the other bit, but if it is that cheap, you could try it first, see if it works. It's been said before that the best results in decoration are achieved by preparing fully, so don't skimp - if you have to get proper sealant it will be worth it in the end.
Be careful of oversealing your walls. PVA is an adhesive, and paint is paint!! Use what is reccomended for the surface wall, ie bare plaster. Using PVA on walls can seal them to the point where they wont allow adhesion of other material.
