I've just saved a jpeg image on my new laptop to send it via email. On attaching it to the email, I noticed that the image is saved in Paint format, which seems to be pre-installed with W8.
Does this mean that the person opening the file will also need Paint or can it be viewed with anything that opens a jpeg file? I've not got around to installing anything else - I used to use Paint Shop Pro. What would be a good program to do this?

Thank you

I think what has happened is that your system associates jpeg files with Paint, so it's given the file a Paint icon.
But jpeg is a standard format, so provided it really is a jpeg file then the other person will be able to open it ok
