damp smells

hi guys
moved into a new house about 6months ago, and found out the mains water stopcock had been leaking for some time. it is right in the corner of the downstrair bathroom with the siol pipe and all other pipes coming into the house, so very hard to get to
anyway stopped the leak and cleaned as much as possilbe but it still feels damp and still smells, and ideas to dry it out and stop smells (remember it
really is hard to get right into it)
many thanks

Can you leave the window open or locked on vent?
Yes, as much cross-ventilation as possible. Is it a suspended (timber) floor, or solid concrete?
rent a dehumidifier and run it in the room, alternatively you can get dehumidifier crystals.

once you have got the damp under control, spray around with a mould and mildew destroying spray

I dont work for Amazon honest, its just that they seem to stock everything.

concrete floors and the stopcock comes up through the floors via a large hole which the water was also going down ,and the plasterboard at the back is soaked non way can i replace that due to access
Ok. Outside ....... open up the hole as much as you can, and just let the wind blow through into the room and out of the window. That's all it needs to dry out. The smell should go along with the damp.
Plasterboard is difficult. It doesn't usually recover after being waterlogged. When it's dry, help it by painting on a few coats of dilute PVA. That'll soak in and go some way towards re-constituting the plasterboard.
sounds as if you have a case against the builder
Brand new house?
Get the builders in to look if it's brand new
