I like that, Bertha. Never come across it before ....... minimal to say the least :o)
In the late 40s/50s, material was in very short supply. The result was to occasionally come up with fittings like these. As was mentioned, you could trawl the reclamation yards, or, have them made up. That, as you can imagine, would be costly.
